Invisalign® & Clear Aligners

A removable orthodontic treatment that gradually straightens teeth using a series of custom-made clear trays.

Invisalign® is one of several clear aligner systems we use. We’ll assess your teeth, your bite, and your goals, then talk you through whether clear aligners or another orthodontic treatment is the better fit.

Orthodontic treatment
without fixed braces

Clear aligners are an orthodontic treatment that moves teeth into a planned position using a staged series of removable trays rather than fixed brackets and wires.
At CFS Dental, clear aligners sit alongside braces, expanders, Myobrace, and myofunctional therapy as one of several ways we can approach orthodontic treatment. Which one we recommend depends on what needs to move, how far it needs to move, and your age and oral health.
Dr Marian Boulos has a particular interest in orthodontics and dentofacial growth, so your assessment looks at the whole picture rather than the appearance of your front teeth alone.

Invisalign® & Other Clear Aligner Brands

Invisalign is a brand of clear aligner treatment. There are several clear aligner systems available, and we’ll discuss the most appropriate system for your case at your consultation.

How clear aligners work?

Each tray is made to fit your teeth at a specific stage of treatment and applies gentle, controlled pressure to move them a small amount. You move through the series in order, and your teeth follow the planned path.
Your trays are made from detailed records of your mouth, including photographs, diagnostic X-rays, a digital scan and a full clinical assessment.
Depending on what your treatment needs are, we may recommend small tooth-coloured attachments bonded to some teeth to help guide particular movements, or minor reshaping between teeth to create room. Attachments are removed once treatment is finished.

What clear aligners can help correct

Clear aligners may be appropriate for a range of orthodontic concerns, including:
  • Crowded or overlapping teeth
  • Crooked or rotated teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Crossbite
  • Relapse after previous orthodontic treatment
Some bite corrections and more complex movements are better handled with fixed braces or a combination of treatments. If that applies to you, we’ll explain why and set out the alternatives.

Clear aligners for
teenagers and adults
Clear aligners can be an option for children, teenagers, and adults. CFS Dental has been using clear aligners with children and teenagers for several years, and what we recommend depends on how the jaw is developing and what needs to move.

Adults often ask about clear aligners because the trays are discreet at work and in social settings, and because treatment fits around everyday life without changing what they eat.
For teenagers, clear aligners may appeal to families looking for a removable option that comes out for eating, drinking, and cleaning. Because aligners only work while they are being worn, we’ll talk openly with you about whether that is realistic before treatment starts.

For younger children, we assess growth and development first. Clear aligners are one of the options we consider alongside expanders, Myobrace, and myofunctional therapy, and we’ll explain which approach we are recommending and why.

Getting the best results

Clear aligners depend more on the patient than most treatments, because the trays only work while they are being worn.
To give your treatment the best chance:
  • Wear your trays for the recommended hours each day
  • Change to the next tray only when instructed
  • Take them out to eat, and to drink anything other than water
  • Brush and floss before putting them back in
  • Rinse and clean your trays daily
  • Keep your review appointments
  • Wear your retainer as directed once treatment finishes
If something does not fit properly or a tray is lost, contact us rather than skipping ahead in the series.

Your questions, answered.

Can’t find what you’re after?
We’re always happy to talk it through.

Are clear aligners right for me?

That depends on what needs to move and how far. Many mild to moderate concerns can be treated with aligners, while some bite corrections are better suited to braces. We’ll assess your teeth and bite and give you a clear recommendation.
