Straightening teeth to support a
healthy, functional smile
Braces are one of the most effective ways to correct the alignment of your teeth and bite. While many people think of braces as a cosmetic treatment, they can also improve how your teeth work together, make cleaning easier, and support long-term oral health.
At CFS Dental, we provide orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers, and adults. Following a comprehensive assessment, we’ll examine your teeth, bite, and jaw development, before recommending whether braces or another orthodontic treatment option is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

When might braces be recommended?

Braces may be recommended to help correct a range of orthodontic concerns, including:
  • Crowded or crooked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Bite concerns such as overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite
  • Teeth that have erupted in an unfavourable position
  • Orthodontic concerns identified during childhood development
For some patients whose primary concern is the appearance of their front teeth, Fast Braces (sometimes referred to as Six-Month Braces) may also be an option. Because this treatment focuses on moving fewer teeth, treatment is often completed more quickly than comprehensive orthodontic treatment.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss whether traditional braces, Fast Braces, or another orthodontic treatment option is most appropriate for your individual circumstances.

How do braces work?

Braces use a system of brackets and wires to apply gentle, controlled pressure that gradually moves your teeth into improved alignment over time.
While traditional braces are designed to correct both tooth alignment and bite concerns, Fast Braces focus primarily on improving the appearance of the front teeth. Following your assessment, we’ll recommend the treatment approach that best suits your smile goals and orthodontic needs.
Throughout treatment, you’ll attend regular review appointments so we can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments. Each treatment plan is tailored to your individual needs and treatment goals.

Benefits of orthodontic treatment with braces

Depending on your individual circumstances, braces may help:
  • Improve the alignment of your teeth
  • Support a healthier bite
  • Make teeth easier to clean
  • Improve chewing function
  • Reduce excessive wear caused by bite imbalance
  • Enhance the overall appearance of your smile
Our recommendations are always based on achieving healthy, functional, and long-lasting outcomes rather than simply creating straighter teeth.
Braces for children,
teenagers and adults
Orthodontic treatment can be appropriate at many stages of life.
For children, regular dental examinations allow us to monitor tooth eruption and jaw development, helping identify whether orthodontic treatment may be beneficial.
Teenagers often begin treatment once most of their permanent teeth have erupted, while many adults also choose braces to improve the alignment and function of their smile.
We’ll recommend the most appropriate timing for treatment based on your individual circumstances.
